A First Pacific Northwest Ocean Passage
The course will cover elements of planning and carrying out a first ocean trip from the Columbia River to the Salish Sea. It will discuss route planning, vessel preparation, equipment recommendations, important crew issues including sea sickness, injuries and crew overboard. Some important risks of the voyage and their potential mitigations will be reviewed. Discussion will include weather concerns and sources, review alternate destinations, and strategies of crossing the bar.
This course will be of special interest to those contemplating a sail or power voyage as skipper or crew in either direction, on either a sail or power vessel.
