Croatia, simply: breathtaking beauty, summertime sun, perfect beaches, great swimming, picture-perfect coastal towns, extraordinary history, Roman to Venetian architecture, incredible wine, delicious seafood - the list keeps going!!!

The voyage will take place aboard a comfortable, spacious and fully provisioned four cabin Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. We will depart from the picturesque medieval port city of Šibenik, past St. Nicholas Fortress and into the Adriatic cruising grounds comprising more than 1,200 islands stretching some 1,100 miles. The coastline is rugged with sheer cliffs, intricate and deeply indented with bays, dotted with ancient ruins and colorful cities steeped in history of the Roman, Byzantine and Venetian empires.

  • Croatian Islands
    Thousand+ Islands

Croatia is a paradise for cruisers with well-equipped, modern marinas, excellent restaurants, secluded anchorages, consistent winds, warm water and a spectacular system of national parks. Enjoy fabulous local wines and seafood. July and August feature ideal weather for exploring this dramatic coastline with warm, dry days and comfortable, breezy nights.

The Dalmation islands allow for brief days sails between anchorages, longer offshore passages and everything in between. Depending on conditions and the desires of the crew, we may visit a range of locations including:

  • Kornati National Park
  • Krka Falls
  • Hvar
  • Brac
  • Mir Salt Lake
  • Vis
  • Lastovo

With some of the most scenic cruising grounds in the Mediterranean, sailing in Croatia balances history, civilization and nature, with abundant wildlife, lush landscapes, pristine beaches and lovely seaside towns.

Catamaran sail training is included throughout the entire trip.

Price per cabin is $4,350 ($2,175/person if two in a cabin). Included in the cabin price are linens and towels, all meals and snacks while aboard, water and soft beverages, fuel and moorage.

Not included are transportation, meals ashore, hotels, excursions, alcoholic beverage of your choice, and additional certification training materials.

We'll coordinate travel arrangements with all participants.

Prerequisites: No prior sailing experience is required, but all participants need a willingness to learn sailing and capacity to actively participate in all aspects of sailing the yacht. Sailing can be adventurous, rigorous and challenging, but the rewards of freedom of the open water, connecting with nature, disconnecting from the modern world, discovering islands and new ports, and self-confidence are tremendous. If you enjoy adventures, then once on the water you'll wonder why you haven't been sailing all along!

*Certifications: You'll receive Catamaran training from one of the World's foremost Catamaran experts, and regardless of certifications. For those wanting certifications: Bareboat OR RYA Day Skipper (not both) and ICC (International Certificate of Competence) are available upon merit. By merit we mean successfully completing any prerequisite knowledge requirements, and more importantly successfully passing the instructor's assessment of your skills and competence.

Depending on the certification and your sailing background, the knowledge training may be an additional cost. For knowledge, we utilize NauticEd online and interactive courses - an advantage because your knowledge training and testing can be completed prior to the trip (i.e., more fun time).

Every sailor has unique backgrounds, needs and goals - and so we'll review your background and make specific preparatory training recommendations. Our goal's to save you time and money; and focus on what's individually needed.

Meet RYA Instructor Capt. Mark Thompson

Mark Thompson, ICC Training, RYA Instructor, Catamaran ExpertMark Thompson
RYA & NauticEd Instructor, ICC Assessor, Catamaran Expert

Mark Thompson with Yachting Education is the Assessor. He is an RYA Sailing Instructor with over 20 years of instruction experience. Mark's one of the best, is very patient and puts student at ease. While the ICC Assessment is pass-fail, Mark creates a positive and low-stress environment for candidates.

As the Principal and Chief Instructor for Yachting Education, Mark Thompson has a significant sailing resume including multiple Atlantic Ocean crossings and experience in Caribbean, Mediterranean, Australian and US waters.More about Capt. Thompson

Mark's career has centered on charter catamarans including a 5 year captaincy aboard the luxury yacht S/Y Lone Star. At 85ft LOA she was at one point the largest charter catamaran in the Caribbean and after crossing the Atlantic, Mark and his crew hosted families on more than 100 weeks of charter.

Mark is a Chief Instructor accredited under NauticEd & RYA programs and has taught hundreds of students in the art of sailing and the nuances of running catamarans. One critical issue he shares is the ability to smoothly and silently communicate and operate theses large powerful vessels.

Mark grew up in Melbourne Australia and joined the maritime industry after a career converting inner city office buildings into trendy apartments. During a year spent traveling the world he discovered a sailing career while driving through Viareggio Italy and thought "you mean I get paid to sail?"

His love of sailing is infectious and his calm, patient demeanor has empowered hundreds of students to consider a bareboat charter and many to purchase their own boat. Whatever your level of expertise, the practical time spent with Mark will be enlightening and your certification will open up a world of sailing opportunities.
